PLANING YOUR OUTDOOR KITCHEN

Planning for your BBQ Island or Outdoor Kitchen is easy with Backyard Outfitters. We offer three different solutions for you to consider in planning your outdoor entertainment area. First, we offer pre-fabricated islands from BULL Outdoor Products. With BULL you can choose your style and then customize everything about it, from components, grills, options, and of course whatever finish you desire. It could not be easier. In addition to all the BULL finishes, we can custom finish the island to match your exsisting decor'. Second, we offer our signature islands constructed of a unique polymer "Uni-Base Material" and then finished to your specifications. We also offer complete CAD design for all our Signature Islands and Outdoor Kitchens. Between BULL Outdoor and our Signature Islands, we offer over 24 different styles to meet your needs. Third, we offer complete custom design and building in-house using traditional construction methods.

First Steps: First, BBQ Islands and Outdoor Kitchens are really the same. The primary difference is if the island has a sink with running water, usually a refrigerator and the associated drains required. Keep this in mind, as we will use just the term "BBQ Island". Pre-fab or custom island? It's a matter of prefference and cost. Most pre-fab islands cost less even though some of the island may be "customized" such as finish and components. Custom means to be designed specifically around your specifications, i.e., dementions and features. Custom islands can be built "in-house" or "on-sight". Generally, Backyard Outfitters only builds "in-house" custom islands which are then delivered and installed at your location. So, the first step is to determine if you want a pre-fab, or a custom island.

Pre-fab or Custom?: Custom generally equates to additional cost, but not always. We would be happy to quote both for your review. In some case, custom is the only option due to size dimentions required for where you are going to place it. (Such as between two pillars on the back patio). Second would be combinations of grills, such as a traditional gas grill and a smoker or pellet grill in the same island. We have done a number of these and they work quite well. The last reason you might have to go custom is the type and location of the components in your island. With pre-fabs, we can do some re-location of components, but not always.

Utilities etc: Utilities are a consideration prior to building and location of the island. You also have to consider winterizing any water hookups if you want a kitchen sink and or bar. Hooking up electrical and bringing gas lines to the island will be up to the home owner, as Backyard Outfitters is not licensed to provide these services. We can however provide you with compentant companies that can provide these services.

The Bottom Line Backyard Outfitters designs, builds and installs more BBQ Islands than anyone on the Western Slope. We would be honored to assist you with your backyard oasis.
